Tech Funding News: “With CHF 3M boost, Crosstown to power the shift from fossil fuels to clean hydrogen”

Zurich‑based deep‑tech startup Crosstown has secured CHF 3 million (approximately $3 million) in seed funding to accelerate commercial deployment of its patented H2R® Burner technology – a retrofit solution that enables existing gas turbines to run on 100 % renewable fuels like hydrogen. Rather than replacing whole turbine systems, the modular burner offers a cost-effective, quick path to decarbonisation, cutting NOₓ emissions by up to 85 % and potentially reducing over 300,000 tons of CO₂ per 100 MW turbine annually.

The financing round, led by 2100Ventures, Climate Insiders, Unruly Capital, and SDAC – with continued support from CiRi, Voyagers, and the Swiss Federal Office of Energy – will help Crosstown expand its product portfolio across multiple turbine platforms (Rolls‑Royce, GE, Siemens, ABB) and deepen partnerships with OEMs and service providers across Europe and beyond. With this boost and European patent protection, the company is positioning itself as a key player in transitioning gas infrastructure toward a zero-carbon energy future while safeguarding Europe’s energy sovereignty.
