Swiss ClimateTech firm Crosstown H2R AG has secured €2.5 million in seed funding to ramp up its H2R® Burner technology – a retrofit solution that enables existing gas turbines to run on 100 percent renewable fuels like hydrogen and hydrogen blends. The Baden‑based startup’s modular burner can be installed into turbines from major OEMs such as Rolls‑Royce, GE, Siemens and ABB, eliminating greenhouse gas emissions and reducing NOₓ emissions by as much as 80 percent, with the potential to save over 300,000 tons of CO₂ per 100 MW turbine each year.
Founded by industry veterans Manoj and Prith Harasgama, Crosstown plans to use the new funds to broaden the compatibility of its burner across more turbine types, forge partnerships with OEMs and independent service providers, and accelerate commercial deployment across Europe. With its patented technology, the company aims to extend the life of existing gas‑turbine infrastructure, support grid stability, and drive Europe’s energy transition toward zero‑carbon power without building new plants.
