Zurich-based Crosstown has raised an additional $3 million in seed funding to scale its proprietary H2R® Burner technology, which enables existing gas turbines to run on 100 % renewable fuels like hydrogen without requiring costly full-system replacements. The startup’s modular burner can be retrofitted into major turbine brands (Rolls‑Royce, GE, Siemens, ABB), offering a faster, more affordable route to zero-carbon energy, cutting NOₓ emissions by up to 85 % and potentially eliminating over 300,000 tons of CO₂ annually per 100 MW turbine.
Supported by investors including 2100Ventures, Climate Insiders, Unruly Capital, SDAC, and backing from the Swiss Federal Office of Energy, Crosstown plans to accelerate its go-to-market strategy, expand its product portfolio to cover thousands of turbines globally, and deepen partnerships with OEMs and independent service providers. With its recent European patent and focus on repurposing existing energy infrastructure, the company positions itself as a key driver of Europe’s clean‑energy transition, enhancing energy sovereignty and averting the risk of stranded gas‑power assets.
